Learn to dance or play guitar during a flamenco fiesta!
For a special workshop we will be learning flamenco for playing at a juerga(flamenco party). This is great fun and very typical in Andalucia when people get together at night and improvise singing, dance and guitar.
Marga will warm up with tarantos a solemn dance that is great for expressive movements. After the warmup she will teach how to dance bulerias in a spontaneous manner.
Philip will teach two classes, one for accompanying the tarantos dance and another for the bulerias.
Marga Pérez and Philip Adie live in Sevilla where they are involved in Flamenco.
In the first part of the class we will do Tarantos with special attention to marcajes, body posture and foot work. During the second part we will learn how to dance por fiesta like in a traditional flamenco party. With palmas, singing, jaleos.
The lessons will be accompanied with Philip Adie and his students!!! We will learn how to interact with the guitar and singing. How to do a llamada and remate por bulerias.
The first class is for learning how to play Tarantos, a really nice flamenco style that is great for accompanying the dance. We’ll learn the basic compas, a falseta to accompany the dance and the basic accompaniment of the Tarantos song & dance. This is a nice opportunity for all levels. The rhythm is not so difficult and the sound is distinctive and very flamenco!
The second class is to accompany Bulerías in a fiesta, Llamadas & remates, short falsetas, letras and subidas etc.
For this class we need to know the compás of bulerías.
After the classes we’ll have a short break and then we will have a juerga(part) where we can all participate dancing and playing. Bring a bottle of wine, some snacks and some friends so we can enjoy ourselves to the fullest.
